SELF CATERING IN PORTPATRICK
ARDBEG
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
Portpatrick is a beautiful coastal village in Galloway, in South West Scotland. A map of the location of the village is on the right-hand column of the amenities page. The village overlooks the Irish Sea and on a clear day you can see the Irish coast. In the evening the lights of the small towns and villages across the water, add to the atmosphere in Portpatrick. We like to think we do the same for them.
In recent years, Wigtownshire was voted on to the list of 'the top 50 most authentic places on earth' to visit, by a panel of travel experts. It is the only Scottish destination on the list.
Ardbeg is a four-bedroomed listed building set within the conservation area of the village. The house can comfortably accommodate 6 people in two double bedrooms, a small double and a single. We are fortunate to be on the sea-front with uninterrupted views across the Irish Sea.
The house was built in the 1700s. Although it has been extensively renovated it has kept many original features. For instance, the hall and part of the sitting room has been stripped back to the original tongue and groove panelling. The master bedroom upstairs has beautiful, ornate plaster mouldings.
We are happy to welcome one well-behaved dog for which there is a £10 charge to cover cleaning. If you have a dog we would please ask you to refer to our policy in the 'terms and rates' section.
The house is let from Friday to Friday. Weekend lets (Friday to Monday) and mid-week (Monday to Friday) are available in mid and low season.
This is a no smoking house.
